The Mackintosh Society # 46

The Mackintosh Society Magazine No. 46

This issue comes to you after a memorable evening at the Britannia Hotel in November 2009. Despite lower than hoped attendance from our nearly 200 members, we enjoyed a superb fashion show, an AGM, excellent food and wine, and wonderful company. Sarah joined the committee and did a marvellous job organising the whole event — a real star and a great addition to the team.

Highlights include the usual high-quality contributions: Russell’s Down Memory Lane (No. 13), a sensual short story A White Christmas by member 311, an erotic Conversation PieceRemembrance of Things Past (Idle thoughts of a very idle fellow), and a fascinating historical-occult piece The Beautiful Beatitudes of Beatrix linking the origins of mackintosh rubber worship to the 1851 Great Exhibition.

Please note that these are home scans, so the quality can vary — some pages are clear, others are softer or slightly blurry. I’ll be improving the scanning over time. This issue continues the mix of nostalgia, reader letters and glossy rubber mackintosh imagery that has made the Weather Vain series so popular. We hope you enjoy it.If you have photos, stories, letters or cuttings you’d like to share, the Editor would love to hear from you — contributions from readers around the world are always very welcome.
